An ode to the classic ’90s game.

Microsoft has revealed new “Christmas Ugly Sweaters” with graphics inspired by the classic Minesweeper game for the holiday season.

The sweater resembles the game’s classic Windows user interface, with the close, expand and minimize icons on the top right corner, and the 1990 year of release and current year 2021 on the bar underneath alongside a Santa hat emoji. The graphics underneath reveal minesweeper tiles in a Christmas tree formation displayed on a starry night backdrop. The release is part of a recent initiative by Microsoft to revisit its past, reintroducing its Clippy office assistant earlier this year, and displaying nostalgic relics from the past on its social media accounts.

The Minesweeper sweaters are now available on the XBOX GEAR SHOP and select retailers for $75 USD.
