Juice WRLD’s mother Carmela Wallace has spoken out about his legacy in a recent interview with XXL. When asked about the music leaks from the late rapper’s sizable catalog at one point in the interview, Wallace condemned those leaking her son’s songs.

“I understand they loved him,” she said. “They loved his music, but there’s a proper way to do it.”

“Leaked music is not necessarily cleaned up music, it’s just leaked, it’s not finished,” Wallace continued. “So, it’s just a lot of work just going into it. It’s a bit disrespectful to him, honestly, to leak his music like that. But I know that monster is there, been there and it’s not going anywhere. We can just do our part and put out good music. He made a lot of music.”

Juice WRLD, whose real name is Jarad Higgins, reportedly had over 2,000 unreleased or unfinished singles at the time of his passing in 2019.

In the years following, the rapper’s label Grade A Productions put out two posthumous albums, 2020’s Legends Never Die and 2021’s Fighting Demons.

Wallace expressed her appreciation for Lil Bibby, the co-founder of Grade A who discovered Juice WRLD in 2017. Bibby collaborated with the rapper during his lifetime and worked on his posthumous releases.

“Bibby really produces and puts all the stuff together like he did when Jarad was here,” Wallace said.
