J.Crew's Latest New Balance 992 Collaboration is Inspired by New York
Sporting accents from the state flag, and earthy tones from Catskills, Central Park and more.
Despite being a mall chain, J.Crew has quite the unique relationship with New Balance as it will often have GR colorways stocked on the shelves or the site, as well as roll out a handful of collaborations with the sportswear brand every year. Towards the latter half of the Summer, the elevated menswear and womenswear brand applied an outdoorsy palette to the 997H, and now it’s following that release up with New York-inspired New Balance 992 collaboration. This multi-toned take makes perfect sense given that the brand is headquartered out of the Big Apple.
A majority of the upper half is constructed with mesh underlays and suede overlays, all of which are done up in a bold blue hue. This is coupled with notes of orange that splash onto the “N” logos, tongue branding and laces in an effort to translate the colors of the east coast state’s flag. More suede is found along the mudguards, toe tips and heels, all of which are dyed with an earthy brown hue to speak to the nature-like essence of Woodstock, Central Park and the Adirondacks. SBS ABZORB is packed inside the midsoles to supply wearers with a plush and stable ride.
These J.Crew x New Balance 992s are slated to drop on October 8 for $175 USD online and in select J.Crew stores.
