All thanks to its four-pronged collection with Aimé Leon Dore last year, the New Balance 550 was reintroduced to the world and quickly amassed a large following among sneakerheads and IG mood boards alike. Building on this garnered attention, the silhouette will be carrying over its collaborative mindset into this new year by kicking things off via a project with size?.
Much like the aforementioned collab that hit the market in 2020, this installment keeps most of the real estate clean and neutral, and gives way to the vibrant accents to do most of the talking. Up top, the crisp white leather paneling comes perforated at the mid-foot, and offset with bright orange accents stained onto the collars, interior linings and overlays that rest just above the midsole towards the heel. More accenting hits arrive by way of the vintage-looking cream laces, grey overlays on the lower throat and collars as well as the juicy blasts that touch the “N” logos, forefoot “550” notations and tongue branding which showcase a repetitive basketball pattern. Furthermore, you’ll find branded hits on the heels which print out the “NB” logo as well as on the footbeds which feature a size? tag.
Moving towards the bottoms, the midsole comes prepped with a vintage-y off-white skin, and is mated with an outsole that is divvied up between orange forefoot and heel sections with grey paneling sandwiched in between.
A release date and price has yet to be unveiled, but expect them to release within the coming weeks.
