Nike Air Max Plus 2 Appears in Energetic "Electric Green" Colorway
Another boisterous take on the turn-of-the-century runner.
Emblematic of the shift in Nike design around the turn of the century, the Air Max Plus 2 was a compelling follow-up to the beloved OG Air Max Plus and a harbinger of things to come from Air Max tech in the early days of the ’00s as well. In recent months, it’s been resurrected to serve as a part of Nike Sportswear‘s seasonal offerings – interestingly enough, well after the Air Max Plus 3 returned in 2019 — and the latest colorway to release is an energetic “Electric Green.”
As is obvious, the “Electric Green” takes its name from the vivid hues on its synthetic overlays. These rise out of the forefoot where they’re accompanied by silver “fangs,” crest towards the midfoot above a small Swoosh and fall back down under the collar, where they also fade to a dark navy. The mesh base on which these overlays sit offers a gradient of its own, going from white up front to a gray shade in the back.
Synthetic mudguards take on a soft gray tone of their own, and strips of hi-vis reflective material run across the toebox and up the tongue, where they meet an old-school Nike Air badge. A second Air badge is present on the heel, which, along with the collar, puts forth textured white leather detailing. Those textures match the white EVA foam midsole, which offers sharp ridges of its own and encases small clear Air Max units in the forefoot and a large clear heel Air Max unit. Colorful outsoles round off the look.
The Nike Air Max Plus 2 “Electric Green” is available at Nike UK now, and is priced at $180 USD.
