Governors Ball will make its return to Randall’s Island on September 24, 25 and 26, 2021.

According to reports, the lineup for this year’s edition will be different from its cancelled June 2020 event, and the list of artists will be revealed in the coming months. ”We’ve decided to move the 2021 show to a time of year that is both more realistic and safer for all,” festival producer Founders Entertainment said in a release. “And while there are still question marks and unknowns in the World, rest assured that we are working closely with City and State authorities to ensure that the next Gov Ball will be a safe and amazing experience.”

Although the possibility of holding the festival lies in the U.S. government’s vaccination rollout plan, organizers noted that they are “hopeful” and that they are teaming up with city and state authorities to ensure a safe event. By 2022, however, Founders Entertainment will be reverting to its usual June date. ”Given that vaccines are rolling out and many experts predict a return to live music events in the fall, we are hopeful,” the festival’s website read. “We’re booking an amazing lineup and making sure all suggested safety protocols are followed. Rest assured that safety is our first priority and we are working closely with all city and state authorities on everything.”

More details will be revealed as the months pass, and organizers announced that 2020 pass holders can either choose to attend this year’s event (if it pushes through) or get a refund. In the event that the 2021 festival will also be cancelled, attendees who have purchased passes will be eligible for refunds.

Elsewhere in music, MF DOOM’s streams have seen an 870% increase.
