adidas has revealed the latest evolution of its signature UltraBOOST silhouette, updating the running sneaker to utilize the newest performance technology. The key feature of the sneaker is its redesigned torsion system, which includes LEP (“Linear Energy Push”) for makes the shoe more responsive and an updated BOOST midsole for extra energy return and comfort.

The BOOST system is the most noticeable feature of the sneaker, with an exaggerated heel curve allowing 6% more BOOST to be used on the UltraBOOST 21. Another standout feature is the PRIMEKNIT+ upper, which comes with a more precise knit designed to give enhanced support and movement as well as being constructed from PRIMEBLUE, a recycled material of at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic.

Announcing the launch, adidas Running‘s Senior Design Director Footwear Moritz Hollmüller said, “In creating the adidas ULTRABOOST 21, we have developed our most holistic running shoe ever, that is the ultimate expression of comfort and responsiveness. ULTRABOOST 21 takes all the aesthetic ingredients that were part of the original shoe’s DNA and fuses them with the latest technology, such as adidas LEP, to create a shoe that combines all of these great design features with incredible comfort, support and energy return.”

The UltraBOOST 21 is due to release in an eye-catching white and “Fluorescent Yellow” colorway via the adidas web store on January 28. Further colorways and limited-edition drops will then follow.

For more from adidas, the YEEZY BOOST 700 is due to release in a new “Sun” colorway.
