Doraemon Pals Around With Gucci Models in Collaborative Lookbook

To offer a stylized look at its forthcoming Doraemon capsule, Gucci recruited photographer Angelo Pennetta to lens an accompanying campaign before the apparel and accessories launch ahead of Chinese New Year. Spotlighting the co-branded clothing and the eponymous robot cat himself, the imagery presents a hybrid of Doraemon‘s signature whimsy and Gucci’s baroque luxury sensibilities.
Doraemon is the star of the show, as the Japanese animated icon lounges, laughs and indulges alongside a collective of stylish Gucci models draped in the collaborative garments and toting complementary bags, scarves and sneakers. The latter includes some Rhyton styles and slide sandals realized with illustrative Doraemon motifs atop Gucci monogram patterns, matching various iPhone cases, canvas wallets and bags.
The all-over design also graces some lush dresses, jackets, skirts, shirts and tracksuits crafted from technical jersey and silk alike, reinforcing the retro louche aesthetic that has become Gucci’s signature. Other ready-to-wear styles include intarsia knit sweaters, interlocking GG T-shirts, denim shorts and even a leather-trimmed bucket hat.
Select Doraemon items are available on Gucci’s website and the full capsule will launch January 20, just ahead of CNY on February 12.
Gucci most recently invited fans to take a behind-the-scenes look at its other major collaboration with The North Face.
