In the last three or so years, revolutionary 4D technology from adidas has served as the base for many sneakers including collaborative efforts with Pharrell, Invincible, Daniel Arsham and more. However, its running and fitness-geared pairs have rarely caused a storm as big as its lifestyle counterparts — see the 4D Run 1.0 for proof. Now, adidas’ team has picked up the pace, introducing the all-new 4D Fusio — a running-style sneaker not too dissimilar to the brand’s previously seen IIM 4D sneaker.

While official information is yet to come from the Three Stripes, what can be assumed is that the 4D Fusio is a lightweight running sneaker made from an upper of Primeknit. This colorway presents a mixture of black, pink, and orange knits that come together alongside thicker and thinner weaves of knit, all of which help contour and shape the shoe.

In contrast, the upper is also decorated with a gray collar that’s made in a finer knitted material than the Primeknit upper, looking as if it will hug and tightly support your ankle. This entire upper base is then decorated with a new TPU lace system, seeing boomerang-shaped tubes anchor down the flat laces that weave through punched eyelets on the upper.

Similarities to the aforementioned IIM 4D are drawn when we refer to the 4D Fusio’s sole unit. Using Carbons’ proprietary Digital Light Synthesis tech, the lattice weave of light and oxygen to create a workable resin finds itself in a thinner platform than what’s been offered in the 4D line before. It is somewhat covered by a midsole shroud, which on the medial midsection sports adidas 4D branding and on the lateral heel is rounded off with debossed adidas branding. Rounding out the pair is the outsole, which like the IIM 4D, sports a new style of vertically-place lines acting as the outsole’s tread.

Take a look at the adidas 4D Fusio in the gallery above, and expect retailers such as 43einhalb to release the sneaker on January 15, 2021, for €199.95 EUR (approx. $245 USD).
