'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' to Hold 30th-Anniversary Reunion Special
Looking back at the cultural impact of how Will Smith became the prince of a town called Bel-Air.

The Banks family is reuniting on TV in celebration of the 30th-anniversary of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
According to reports, Will Smith, Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid and DJ Jazzy Jeff will be filming the unscripted special on September 10 — the exact date of the 30th-anniversary — although it’s not set to hit HBO Max until around Thanksgiving. The cast will take a look at the cultural impact of the show since it first debuted in 1990 and is billed as “a funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and special surprise guests, in honor of the series that ran for six seasons and 148 episodes.”
The special will be developed by Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s Westbrook Media, directed by Marcus Raboy and executive produced by Miguel Melendez, Lukas Kaiser, Brad Haugen and original showrunner Rikki Hughes.
In addition to the anniversary special, Smith is working on a dramatic reboot of the comedy show based on the viral trailer created by Morgan Cooper. Both Smith and Cooper will be involved in the project, with Cooper co-writing the script, directing and serving as co-executive producer.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 30th-anniversary reunion special will premiere on HBO Max around Thanksgiving.
