Will Smith Meets With Filmmaker Behind 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' Remake

Earlier this month, a trailer for a fan-made remake of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air began making the rounds on the internet. The clip offered a modern and dramatic take on the sitcom’s familiar storyline, while also providing a closer look at Will’s life in Philly. Now, after more than 3 million views, the Fresh Prince himself has decided to weigh in and offer his thoughts around the remake.

Will Smith met up with Bel-Air director Morgan Cooper in Miami to discuss his reaction to the project. Smith called Cooper’s idea “brilliant” and explained how he’s excited to see people creating through new mediums. He also brought along Fresh Prince writer Mike Soccio and provided insight around how his personal life reflected the character’s situation in the television show.
