'Monster Hunter: Rise' Announced Exclusively for Nintendo Switch
Utilizing exploration similar to ‘Breath of the Wild.’
During Nintendo‘s Mini Direct, Capcom announced Monster Hunter: Rise, a new installment in the franchise exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch. Monster Hunter: Rise utilizes heavy exploration, similar to Zelda: Breath of the Wild while still maintaining the integrity of the franchise’s traditional gameplay.
The new entry also features a fox mount to ride pet companions and an energy-based grappling hook mechanic for fast and easy traversing. Attacks are flasher in this iteration and four new beasts have been announced to be the highlight of the game. Aknosom is the fiery crane monster, Teranadon is a hulking platypus, Great Izuchi is a giant raptor and Magnmalo serves as the title’s flagship monster. Monster Hunter Rise revolves around a monster rampage and a few Monster Hunter World original monsters such as Tobi Kadachi, Arzuros, and Nerscylla.
According to Nintendo, “all combat areas within each quest are seamlessly connected, allowing for exploration of the vast and vertical landscapes with no loading times.”
Monster Hunter: Rise launches for Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021. A Deluxe Edition will also be available, which offers the full game and bonus DLC. Pre-ordering the vanilla or Deluxe version will unlock bonus in-game items like layered armor and more.
