Watch Lucid Motors' 1,080-Horsepower Air EV Hit 157 MPH Down a Drag Strip
Entering the sub-10 second club.

Earlier this month, Californian automaker Lucid Motors unveiled its 1,080-horsepower Air EV, and now you can watch the incredible car in action as it shoots down a quarter-mile drag strip in just 9.245 seconds.
According to the Twitter post featuring the 30-second clip, the Air managed to reach a staggering 157.26 mph during the quarter-mile dash, breaking its own record within the company. There’s no doubt the video was published in retaliation to Tesla’s recent announcement of its Plaid powertrain during the Battery Day event, which can apparently push the Tesla Model S into the sub-10 second territory for a quarter-mile dash: 9.9 seconds to be precise. While Lucid has managed to top that by five 10ths of a second, the feat is even more impressive when you consider the 10.7 seconds it takes for Porsche’s on full EV — the Taycan — to make a quarter-mile.

Elsewhere in the automotive world, Lamborghini has launched a Graphite Capsule for its 2021 Urus.
