'Vader Immortal' Arrives on PlayStation VR
Engage in hand-to-hand lightsaber battles.
In a surprise announcement during Sony‘s latest State of Play broadcast, ILMxLAB revealed that the award-winning Star Wars virtual reality game Vader Immortal is coming to PlayStation VR.
Developed by ILMxLAB, Vader Immortal was originally released on Oculus as an episodic VR game written by David S. Goyer, the screenwriter for Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. While all three episodes focus on the great antagonist Darth Vader, players will actually be controlling a smuggler hired by the Sith Lord himself to operate within Mustafar — the planet Vader calls home — in search of an ancient artifact. Now part of the canon, players will journey through the game experiencing hand-to-hand lightsaber fights as well as using force abilities. Apart from its main story mode, the game will also come with the popular Lightsaber Dojo mode, where you can master your lightsaber skills.
“Vader Immortal holds a very special place in our hearts at ILMxLAB and we are very excited to be bringing this to PlayStation VR,” said Harvey Whitney, a producer at ILMxLAB. “This allows even more fans to experience the first Star Wars story designed exclusively for virtual reality,”
Vader Immortal will arrive on PSVR August 25, with all three episodes retailing under one single purchase for $30 USD. Check out the new trailer above now.
Elsewhere in gaming, Microsoft will be launching Project xCloud next month for Android users.
