Nike's Latest Kyrie S2 Hybrid Packs a Patriotic Punch
The “What The USA” colorway is now available.
Following the “Black/Atomic Dust” color way release in July, Nike Basketball now returns with a patriotic new colorway for the Kyrie S2 Hybrid. The uppers of the mid-top silhouette are adorned with tie-dye swirls of red, white and blue across its uppers. Gold swooshes are also added to the mix for a sophisticated look with deep navy tones hitting the laces and treaded soles for good measure.
Nike states that the overall design references the 2014 and 2016 USA Olympic team kits alongside subtle graphic elements from traditional USA jersey designs worn in various international competitions. However, SB-heads would probably count the legendary “What the Dunk” low skate shoe as the primary influence albeit the original pair featured mismatched left and right feet with various patterning — unlike the Kyrie S2 that we see here.
As far as specs are concerned, the shoe features all its signature trappings: toothed midsole tooling, a Venus flytrap-inspired lace covers, and the ridged TPU heel that holds the uppers together. The Kyrie S2 Hybrid “What the USA” can now be picked up at select stockists and Nike’s official website for $209 USD.
Elsewhere in footwear, Gucci recently announced its Gucci Sneaker Garage App that lets you design and try on virtual shoes.
