In an unexpected move, Def Jam Recordings recently teased what appears to be a new installment in its Def Jam Vendetta series.
Taking to Twitter, the recording company posted a screenshot of the player select screen from the original hip-hop fighting video game title with the caption, “The streets saying we need a new Def Jam game.” Adding fuel to the fire, the Def Jam also promised fans a special announcement would be made if its Twitter account reached 1 million followers.
Def Jam’s foray into the gaming world in partnership with Electronic Arts spawned four titles in total (Vendetta, Fight for NY, The Takeover, Icon). The series has been celebrated for its novel theme, incorporation of rap superstars as brutal fighting characters and diverse fighting system.
