Prince Estate Releases New "Baltimore" Music Video
A timely visual in support of #BlackLivesMatter.
The Prince estate dropped a brand new music video for the late artist’s 2015 track “Baltimore,” re-releasing a visual that echoes the recent murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.
“Baltimore” originally appeared on the album HITnRUN Phase 2, and was written about the murder of Freddie Gray. The new visual features clips and images from the #BlackLivesMatter protests held after the death of Gray — a sadly similar environment America is facing now for the same issue of police brutality against the Black community. It ends with a powerful quote from Prince that reads, “The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life…”
