Nike Pegasus Trail 2 "Dark Smoke Grey" Serves Stealthy Trail Style
Travel off the beaten path with the Swoosh’s latest trail runner.
Nike Running‘s new Pegasus Trail 2 has released in a stealthy “Dark Smoke Grey” colorway. The Swoosh’s latest offroad running silhouette, the Pegasus Trail 2 borrows shape and speed-driven concept from the ever-popular Pegasus line, but is bolstered for the trail by rugged accoutrements and material tweaks.
Where most Nike trail runners are boisterously colored in vintage Nike ACG fashion, the “Dark Smoke Grey” opts to keep things sleek and largely subtle. In short, it lets its build speak louder than its palette. Dark grey synthetic uppers are sheathed in a black mesh overlay that runs from toebox to midfoot, with a low-slung grey Swoosh that almost manages to reach from toe to heel. Small black Swooshes are present on the lateral heel, while the medial midfoot and tongue discard all checks in favor of a mountain graphic. Heel tabs aid with easy entry and removal and a sock-like neoprene under layer keeps the wearer’s foot warm and dry.
Midsoles are dressed in speckled grey built from React foam, a new material choice for the Pegasus line that debuted on the Air Zoom Pegasus 37. A beefy Zoom air puck is stuffed in the forefoot for responsive, explosive toe-offs and the outsole uses a toothed rubber build that promises traction on uneven surfaces and in inclement conditions.
The Nike Pegasus Trail 2 “Dark Smoke Grey” is available now via the Nike webstore, and retails for $130 USD.
Moving to Nike Sportswear, the high-tech, high-priced Adapt Auto Max recently appeared in a vivid “Emerald Green” color palette.
