Last month, Christie’s announced its plans to launch an online auction dedicated to acclaimed artist Daniel Arsham. Marking the first single-artist online sale by any international auction house, “Daniel Arsham: Archeology of the Future” will offer an array of editioned works, including the Future Relic series and Crystal Relic series, alongside his newest collaborative works with Dior, Pokémon, Disney and more. All of the proceeds from the sale will be gifted to the Cooper Union school of art in Manhattan, where he graduated in 2003.

Beginning tomorrow, items like eroded clocks, basketballs and telephones — with prices ranging from $4,000 to $500,000 HKD (approx. $500 to $65,000 USD) — will go up for auction. Highlights of the auction include his nearly one-foot-tall Blue Crystalized Pikachu collectible, as well as a bronze hourglass sculpture from 2019. The crystalized and fossilized works showcase the artist’s need to investigate how the present is shaping the future and what humanity’s legacy will look like. “Echoing these collective reflections, the thought-provoking works of renown multidisciplinary contemporary artist Daniel Arsham are relevant now more than ever,” Christie’s explains.

Take a closer look at the donated works in the slideshow above. Bidding will run from June 19 to June 30 on Christie’s website.

Elsewhere, Gagosian is presenting its most significant online sales exhibition yet for Art Basel.
