Big Boi and Sleepy Brown Reunite for Sultry New Single "Can't Sleep"
The two have also revealed that a joint album is on the way.
Big Boi might be a veteran of the hip-hop game, but that isn’t stopping him from appreciating his female counterparts. In his latest collaboration with fellow Dungeon Family member Sleepy Brown, “Can’t Sleep,” the rapper refuses to hold back about his appreciation for women, equally talking about society’s tendency of hyper-sexualizing females.
On, “Can’t Sleep,” Big Boi delivers a bit of social commentary on sexuality in the Agee of the Internet. “Raised by the internet with no daddy, sadly poppin’ pussy for the Instabook,” he raps. “Backward for the Facegram, just to make a n***a look […] Bad thing about it, she just f*ckin’ up her chances of a n***a put some carats on her hand and try to marry her.” This is backed by a silky instrumental, with Sleepy Brown laying down his own velvety vocals on the chorus and second verse. The music video plays into the song’s lyrical narrative, with the two of them being joined by an army of females in front of a massive Outkast mural.
The song comes alongside the announcement of a new joint album called The Big Sleepover, which is expected to arrive sooner than later. The two most recently teamed up for “Intentions” last fall, which will also be on the forthcoming project.
