The inaugural release of the monumental Louis Vuitton collaboration.
After being announced in December of last year, Louis Vuitton is now gearing up for the inaugural release of Virgil Abloh‘s first collaboration at the fashion house. Borne out of a longstanding camaraderie, Virgil invited NIGO to create a one-off line fusing their sensibilities under the guise of LV.
Honoring the codes of Louis Vuitton’s iconic codes, the duo has revisited the entire product range from leather goods to ready-to-wear. Drop 1 of the standalone collection is led by an array of denim, jackets, trousers, shirts and bobs that carry both the Monogram and Damier check patterns. Available in two color schemes, the denim styles express a patchwork element through distinct usage of cutouts, embroidery and printing.
Drawing from Virgil and NIGO’s streetwear ties, the special range’s LV² logo and associated branding is applied to a grey sweatshirt and zipped jacket for graphic driven everyday wear options. The logo is also subtly embroidered on the back of a shirt that pairs perfectly with the fitted marled tone-on-tone monogram grey trousers and blazer that help complete a formal look.
The Keepall, backpacks, crossbody and weekend style bags remain structurally unchanged but have been reimagined to continue the mix of Louis Vuitton’s Monogram pattern and Damier check. Accenting the carrying options is the “LV Made” Duck, a luxury reinterpretation of NIGO’s signature HUMAN MADE motif. The collector’s item is a coin purse attached to the handles of the LV² bags. Additionally, the “LV Made” Duck is also available on the Tambour Horizon watch via an LV2 animation.
Footwear features a classic Derby with silver-tone toes and leather loafers in sleek black or in the Monogram pattern. But the real standout is a moccasin-style ankle boot done in Monogram leather sitting on top of a cream midsole marked with gold-tone motifs and paired with a rubber ripple outsole.
Rounding up the inaugural release are accessories like a pair of black acetate glasses, a key holder, Damier check leather belt, bracelet and a series of branding focused chains.
Check out the items above and look for Drop 1 of the NIGO x Virgil Abloh LV² collection to be available at Louis Vuitton locations worldwide from June 26.
