Returning from his collaborative capsule alongside fellow Chicago powerhouse Hidden Characters as well as his recent collection titled “Shift/Shattered,” designer Casper Wright’s budding imprint GUTTERTM has now presented a range of new cut & sew goods in a new unisex SS20 collection titled “Something Heartfelt.”
Highlighted in a lookbook lensed by Cam Hicks (Stray Rats, Louis Vuitton), the 19-piece range is a mature evolution for the young designer, a self-taught pattern maker and garment crafter who pulls from a slew of inspirations. Throughout the collection, various esoteric materials sourced from private Italian mills are continuously spotlighted, from dense waxed cotton to flannel fabrics, knit textiles, and more. Highlights of the new range are the Neon Genesis Evangelion-themed Eva Blazer and Trouser combo, as well as the red Stampede Trench, both of which highlight Wright’s love for the unorthodox as well as Chicago’s unpredictable weather.
The colorfully-paneled Eva Blazer and Trouser combo was inspired by the hit anime series’ pilot suits, featuring multi-functional repurposing through dropped armholes for multiple wearing options. The red Stampede Trench follows suit, featuring removable sleeves and a waxed finish for increased rain repellence, finally finished by a bold “SECOND IMPACT” screenprint on the rear. Other pieces in the range include the workwear-styled Spectrum Jacket in black, oversized Distant Trousers, the robe-like Dweller Coat, the Seeker Button Up Shirt in a grayscale plaid pattern, graphic T-shirts and hoodies, a durable sling bag with multiple compartments, and more.
Take a detailed look at GUTTERTM’s “Something Heartfelt” collection above. The range drops via the imprint’s website on Friday, May 15.
