Aminé Delivers Ode to Rihanna With "Riri"
The bass-heavy track takes aim at a failed relationship.
Aminé has returned with his first single since February’s “Shimmy,” a reflection on a failed relationship dubbed “Riri.” Ostensibly a tribute to Rihanna, the song describes a woman that can’t compare to the pop star’s perfection, one who beleaguered Aminé for too long.
Black-ish star Jak Knight provides a brief closing skit for the track, but the centerpiece of “Riri” is Aminé’s soulful hook and reflective lyrics, buoyed by bass-rich production from frequent collaborator Pasqué. “You gave me headaches/And I gave you too many chances,” Aminé opines, reconsidering the dangerous indicators that he didn’t notice when courting the woman. “Blinded by your beauty/Missing these signs/Wish I had three eyes.”
Listen to “Riri” via the streaming service of your choice and expect Aminé to drop a self-directed music video on Monday. His forthcoming sophomore album is also in the works, expected to premiere this year.
Elsewhere, Aminé’s John Paul JAM co-headliner Lil Yachty issued his latest record, Lil Boat 3.
