Kide Baharudin and Vans Deliver Vibrant Hand-Painted Collection
Inspired by the Vans Asia Custom Culture winner’s local history.

Emerging Malaysian artist and Vans Asia Custom Culture winner Kide Baharudin has teamed up with Vans for his first-ever official head-to-toe collection this spring.
Taking inspiration from his relationship with local history and culture, the apparel and footwear collaboration is a reflection of Baharudin’s playful, vibrant take on storytelling and the characters he created. “When I am cycling in my hometown, I always love observing the small village where I grew up. I like to imagine how the place looked back in the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s. I try to find the story through my parents’ childhood. Then I’ll illustrate this in my paintings,” he said in a statement.
Baharudin’s colorful, hand-painted illustrations breathe in new life as it spreads across the collection. The Vans Slip-On SF in a “Kide Classic White/Marshmallow” colorway acts as the highlight of the collab, with the updated classic crafted with water-based inks and glues. The silhouette utilizes a sturdy cotton canvas upper, collapsible kick down heel, Vans UltraCush sockliner and the original waffle outsole.
In support of the Slip-On SF, the duo is also offering two more silhouettes — a Vans Authentic SF and Slide-On — with each pair designed with similar artwork. Rounding out the Kide x Vans collection are a 100% Rayon, straight-hem Camp T-shirt in all-over print, surf trunks, T-shirts, tank tops, backpacks and two hats.
The Kide Baharudin x Vans collection is available now on the Vans online store.
