Gorillaz Tap Peter Hook and Georgia for "Aries" Music Video
The episodic ‘Song Machine’ series continues.
Gorillaz make another surprise return with the release of their third episode from the ongoing Song Machine series in “Aries” featuring bass from legendary Joy Division and New Order member Peter Hook and drums by producer Georgia. Gorillaz’s own cartoon guitarist Noodle detailed the song’s creation in a recent press release, saying the experience was, “Highly impatient and competitive, many “Aries” have the fighting spirit of your mythological ruler.”
“Aries” infuses the Song Machine project with some soft and semi-conscious synths with smooth guitar throughout. The offering follows the group’s trip to Lake Como, Italy for “Désolé” featuring Fatoumata Diawara and the first single, “Momentary Bliss” with contributions from slowthai and Slaves.
“I’m standing on a beach in the distance/ Even though you’re far away/ Can you see my red light/ It’s waiting to turn green,” Damon Albarn sings. The video even features a message from 2D to stay safe during the current Coronavirus pandemic, and to stay tuned for more music in the near future.
