'Rick and Morty' Are Transported to Feudal Japan for "Samurai & Shogun" Short
Filled with violence and blood.
Surprising fans, Adult Swim aired an animated short for Rick and Morty during Saturday’s Toonami programming block. Titled “Samurai & Shogun,” the clip was produced by celebrated Anime studio Studio DEEN and sees cynical mad scientist Rick Sanchez and grandson Morty Smith in Feudal Japan.
Tapping the voice stars of the Japanese dub of Rick and Morty, Youhei Tadano voices “Rick WTM72” and Keisuke Chiba voices “Shogun Morty.” Rooting the short are lauded Anime figures director and scriptwriter Kaichi Satō, producer Koji Iijima, and executive producer Maki Terashima-Furuta. According to Adult Swim senior vice-president and creative director Jason DeMarco his team “spent a year putting together a five minute Rick and Morty Lone Wolf & Cub anime short.”
