2020 marks the 20th anniversary of BAPE‘s popular BAPESTA, so the brand has been rolling out several special styles over the last few months — the latest of which to surface is a new patchwork denim makeup. Playing with with denim’s many textures and tones, this BAPESTA presents itself as a pair (or pairs) of jeans in sneaker form.
Uppers are constructed from a diverse assemblage of different denims, with heels, mudguards and overlays using three different shades of blue that range from stonewashed to indigo. In true BAPE fashion camo is snuck in as well on toeboxes and quarter panels. Both of these camouflaged parts are constructed of a finer material in place of the heavy gauge denim on the other pieces.
Blue jean inspiration doesn’t stop there. A large leather jacron tag is slapped askew across the lateral forefoot, and embellished with the signature rope graphics present on BAPE’s in-line denim. Signature star logos and heel pieces are constructed of rich chestnut brown leather, while more brown appears on the eyestays, laces and heel’s embroidered hit. Finishing touches of detail are then provided by a small BAPE tag hanging from the lateral star logo’s trail, a crisp white sockliner, bold metallic BAPE lace deubres and a gum midsole/outsole.
This bold women’s-exclusive BAPESTA is set to release on the BAPE webstore come March 7, with a yet-to-be-determined retail price.
