Balenciaga Takes It Back to the Mid-'90s With Trio of Shield Rectangle Sunglasses
“BB” branding graces the bridge.
Balenciaga continues its trend of retro-futuristic eyewear with the release of the Shield Rectangle sunglasses, appearing in blue, silver and black.
These Demna Gvasalia-designed pairs look to the 1990s, delivering three core components: colored lenses, tiny frames, and an acetate base. Additional ’90s design cues include the pairs’ slight cat-eye shape where the lenses flick up at the sides, as well as the signature “BB” branding in the middle of the bridge.
The “BB” branding is made from metal and is joined by a set of visible screws at either side of the frame. Balenciaga’s eyewear isn’t just for looks, as they pack 100% UVA and UVB protection into their mirrored-screen lenses.
