Following its citrus-hued take on the GEL-Kayano 5 KZN from last week, ASICS is back with yet another bold spin on the silhouette, this time giving the footwear model a lush “Tree Camo” colorway. The sneakers are packed with a bevy of functional details but still embrace some aspects of retro runners — taking the uppers of an OG GEL-Lyte 5 and fusing them with a new GEL midsole for a hybrid look.
Staring at the top of the shoe is a woven “A” patch logo stamped over an earthy-brown cotton panel at the upper tongue. The rest of the tongue boasts a rich cream-colored tone that comes in durable ballistic nylon, covering the central forefoot, toebox and sidewalls. Offsetting the minimal palette is light, mossy blue-green camo patterned suede that shows up around the heel, eyelets, mudguards and toecap, while ASICS’ signature sidestripes appear as sleek leather accents. All of these features rest above an articulated two-toned midsole equipped with a glossy GEL heel piece for optimal support and comfort.
The ASICS Gel-Kayano 5 KZN “Tree Camo” is currently available on HBX’s website for $116 USD.
