After tapping MIN-NANO for a colorful sneaker collaboration, Vans is now linking up with New York fashion designer Sandy Liang for a limited-edition collection of footwear, apparel and accessories. Inspired by her hometown of Bayside, Queens, her grandma and the hand-me-downs of her youth, Liang brings a style that embodies the “dreaminess of the nineties, as well as the grittiness of downtown New York City.”

Known for mixing prints, colors and fabrics, Liang updates five Vans Classic footwear styles in her bold yet playful aesthetic. The highlight of the collection is the Sandy Liang Era, which features a built-in ankle bracelet sewn directly into the pink velour upper. Inspired by a couch found in Liang’s Lower East Side studio, the Old Skool is dressed in the same pink velour and accented with crisscross chain detailing, while another iteration of the style boasts black canvas uppers and exposed white lock stitching. Rounding out the footwear options are Platform Slip-Ons in white snow leopard fur and the Vans Sport in canvas leopard and tartan plaid.

The nine-piece apparel and accessories range reflects ’90s nostalgia through the use of bejeweled detailing, butterfly iconography and marbled colorways. Key apparel pieces include an oversized Sandy BF hoodie, snakeskin print bike shorts, a light pink jumpsuit and all-over polka dot print jacket. Accessories include a faux shearling crossbody bag and fanny pack with metal chain.

The Sandy Liang x Vans collection will launch February 21 on Vans’ and Sandy Liang’s websites, as well as at select Vans retail locations. Between February 21 and March 15, The General by Vans retail location will launch an exclusive pop-up experience that will present the collaborative range alongside Liang’s ready-to-wear collection.

For more collaborations, Coca-Cola and Herschel Supply have released a collection of bags and apparel for the warm summer days ahead.
