'SpongeBob SquarePants' Receives Prequel Series 'Kamp Koral'
Featuring Tom Kenny and the rest of the original voice cast.
Nickelodeon is diving into the youth of SpongeBob SquarePants in the forthcoming prequel series, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years.
According to reports, the CG-animated prequel received a series order in Summer 2019 and is scheduled to premiere this July 2020. Following the life of 10-year-old SpongeBob in a summer camp, the show will feature the original voice cast of Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton), Mary Jo Catlett (Mrs. Puff), Jill Talley (Karen) and Lori Alan (Pearl).
The Nickelodeon franchise’s upcoming 3D film The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, focusing on the titular character and Patrick’s hunt for Gary the Snail after he gets snail-napped. The movie is set to feature appearances from some of the biggest entertainers, including Awkwafina, Reggie Watts and Keanu Reeves, with Hans Zimmer scoring the film and Cyndi Lauper writing the original music. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run premieres May 22.
