Pharrell and NIGO Celebrate Decades-Long Connection With adidas Originals "Friendship" Pack
Made up of two takes on the Tokio Solar Hu and two iterations of the PW BOOST Slide.
If you’re talking dynamic duos, there’s a strong case to be made that Pharrell and NIGO are the Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen of street culture. Over the course of the two’s decades-long friendship, they’ve done everything from start Billionaire Boys Club in 2003 to work together on a three-pack of adidas Hu sneakers in 2019. Now, for their latest project they’ve linked with adidas Originals once again for a four-style “Friendship” pack consisting of two takes on the Tokio Solar Hu and the PW BOOST slide.
A modern-day reinterpretation of adidas‘ archival Tokio, the Tokio Solar Hu features a trim Primeknit upper with suede overlays, leather Three Stripe graphics and an elongated heel tab, all atop a trim BOOST midsole and Continental rubber outsole. Here, it’s produced in a warm orange colorway with soft red and blue accents and a seafoam blue-green makeup that adds everything from tan to rich navy, bright red and calming lilac.
On the other hand, the adilette-esque PW BOOST Slide boasts a full BOOST foam footbed and is done up in tonal tan with simple yellow, powder blue and peach accents plus a powder blue with dashes of red, tan and seafoam blue-green. Its signature detail arrives on the strap, where embroidered Japanese characters that translate to “You” and “Me” serve as a nod to NIGO’s heritage.
The Pharrell x NIGO x adidas Originals “Friendship” pack will release globally — save for the first of the two sandals, which is a Japan exclusive — on December 18 via the adidas webstore. Shoes are priced at $180 USD and sandals at $100 USD.
