Brooklyn Nets Pay Homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat With 2021-21 City Edition Jerseys
Adding a bright twist to the franchise’s traditional monochromatic color scheme.
The Brooklyn Nets are paying homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat with its 2021-21 City Edition jerseys.
Taking visual cues from the legendary artist, the jersey arrives in the NBA franchise’s signature black and white color scheme with a Basquiat twist. The “BKLYN NETS” chest logo moves away from its traditional lettering and is instead inspired by his distinct style, while the multi-colored stripe that runs down the side of the uniform is reminiscent of his work. Basquiat’s iconic crown motif can be found on the shorts and is a representation of Kings County, and his signature is placed on the bottom of the jersey.
The hardwood court of the Barclays Center, which serves as the home of the Nets, has also been revamped to align with the multi-colored stripe, the “BKLYN NETS” lettering and the crown motif.
A rich lineup of matching jackets, socks, T-shirts, hoodies, hats, slides and Herschel backpacks and daypacks also join the collection, which is available now on the Nets online store.
