The Chicago shop and Matthew Senna present “Study 011: Silver,” a sculpture of the Nike Air Jordan XI that’s entirely chrome. The details are intricate enough for you to mistake this as a metal-dipped pair of XIs — real-life textures are found along the midsole, lace tops, and even the “embroidered” Jordan logo on the rear quarter panel. The Silver XIs also arrive in their own custom made aluminum briefcase, for show or stow. Matthew Senna’s autograph is found both on the sneakers and the case, cementing the artist’s exclusive work. The sculpture honors the XI’s 25th anniversary of when it first hit the sneaker world in 1995.
SNIPES will display and actually raffle off the sculpture to guests who visit the store. Not only will the raffle for the metallic XIs take place, but the store will also have an immersive experience surrounding the XIs, including an infinity room dedicated to the sneaker. In addition, 25 lucky guests will also have a chance to win a pair of Jordan XIs as well, courtesy of SNIPES.
Check out the raffle details online — live until December 16 at midnight — for those who can’t visit the shop. For those who can, pop into the SNIPES store in Evergreen on December 12 to experience it all.
