Leica Loads 24 Megaxpixels in New Hybrid SL2-S Camera
Touted as the brand’s most versatile photo and video camera to-date featuring 24 megapixels, 4K 60 fps video, ISOs up to 100,000 and more.

Leica‘s latest proposal to the market — the SL2-S camera — is a full-frame device built to capture timeless moments via still photography and captivating motion pictures. The announcement of this newest tech item arrives following the release of the brand’s Q2 Monochrom — a 47-megapixel piece designed to shoot black and white imagery.
Bearing a 24 megapixel CMOS-BSI sensor and two separate recording modes for photos and videos, the Leica SL2-S offers premium quality for both mediums housed in an all-metal build. Specs-wise on the photography front, the model has the ability to handle continuous burst rates of up to 25 frames per second at full resolution. With high sensitivity of up to ISO 100,000 coupled with its laser quick autofocus and in-body image stabilization, users may shoot striking imagery even in dimly-lit environments.
For videography, the tech product shoots 10-bit 4:2:2 videos with frame rates of up to 60 fps. Additionally, its LUTs (lookup tables), provides consumers with full control over color quality and post-processing grading while recording, and it features unlimited video recording time meaning that length is only limited by the user’s SD card/external storage capacity.
Currently, the SL2-S is available for purchase at authorized Leica dealers for $4,895 USD, a noticeable decline in price from its flagship $5,995 mirrorless 47-megapixel SL2 camera.
