Kito Wares Creates "The Passion of Christ" Sneakers for Christmas
Introducing designer David Norris’ response to the idolization of brands.
Indiana-based Kito Wares is dropping its new The Passion of Christ sneakers. Releasing on December 25, the limited-edition footwear is not just another holiday-centric sneaker, it’s an ambitious attempt from designer David Norris to start a conversation about the idolization of brands. Featuring unique details like leather crosses, a grey “crown of thorns” print and portraits of Jesus Christ, these kicks are perfect for the most pious of sneakerheads.
The Passion of Christ Sneakers feature core details like a puffy mesh skate shoe style tongue, ventilation holes on the toe and comfortable interior padding. With a “Sail”-colored sueded leather upper and bloody prints throughout the sneakers, Norris also designed this pair as a way to explore religion as a branding exercise. While other streetwear designers have tried to call attention to the way fans religiously follow a brand, The Passion of Christ Sneakers does so quite literally by integrating Christian iconography.
Priced at $150 USD, The Passion of Christ Sneakers are a limited-edition shoe for fans who agree with this independent designer’s message. They’ll be available for purchase on December 25 at 5:00 p.m. on Kito Ware’s website and the .show video above.
