Four Tet and Madlib Drop Collab Album Lead Single "Road Of The Lonely Ones"
‘Sound Ancestors’ drops January 2021.
Four Tet and Madlib have announced their exciting collaborative album Sound Ancestors and its lead single, “Road Of The Lonely Ones.”
According to a lengthy Instagram post written by Four Tet, the two producers have been working on this project for a few years now. The English producer explains that he originally told Madlib to create a solo album for his beats to “all flow together in an album designed to be listened to start to finish” instead of one for vocalists. They decided to team up for the project — Madlib sent “hundreds of pieces of music over” to Four Tet, and the electronic music producer arranged, edited, manipulated and combined these “tracks, loops, ideas and experiments” to create Sound Ancestors.
The pair have worked together before, their most prominent project being Four Tet’s remixes of Madlib and MF DOOM‘s Madvillainy album in 2005.
