ASICS' GEL-KAYANO 14 Serves Retro Running Vibes With "White/Classic Red" Makeover
Highlighted by chrome accents.

ASICS SportStyle recently unveiled the inaugural non-Kiko Kostadinov-linked GEL-KAYANO 14 in a fittingly retro gold-tinged colorway, and now the pair has surfaced in “White/Classic Red.”
The sneaker first released back in 2008 and was originally designed by Toshikazu Kayano, however, the pair now sees a reintroduction into our sneaker rotation thanks to ASICS’ Hidenori Yamashita. Under Yamashita’s direction, the sneaker has been faithfully recreated with the idea of a “flash” in mind, or as the designer puts it, “Flash, for me, references the burst of action where the runner lands at the heel and pushes away at the toes. Whether it’s the color, the lines, the materials, the silhouette, or the texture — all aspects of the GEL-KAYANO 14 are designed with that idea of ‘flash’ in mind.”
Presented in “White/Classic Red,” the OG running shoe sports a busy upper comprising white mesh for its base alongside silver leather overlays that are intersected with black details making out the ASICS branding on the mid-panel. Additionally, the red heel element is finished in a chrome tone, which serves as the base for GEL-KAYANO 14 branding. More silver and black can be found on the tongue tag and the GEL-branded heel plate, while red and gray tones have been used to highlight the technology in the predominantly white midsole.
ASICS SportStyle’s GEL-KAYANO 14 in “White/Classic Red” can be seen above, and will be available to purchase from retailers such as Asphalt Gold on December 18. The sneaker will cost €149 EUR (or $140 USD at U.S. retailers).
