Famed DJ, Steve Aoki pays homage to his Japanese roots in a new partnership with Sanrio.

Always eager to learn about his Japanese heritage, Aoki’s record label and fashion brand sets out to bring forward anime and manga influences into Dim Mak imprint. This collection features Aoki’s re-imagined vision of the ever-popular and kawaii characters of Sanrio. Inspired by the detailed use of eyes in anime to convey a distinctive depth of emotions, he has re-conceptualized the iconic Sanrio personas. It is the first time these emblematic characters’ eyes will be given the spotlight.

“We wanted to show a new side to Hello Kitty and Friends…a window into their souls,” explains Steve Aoki.

Characters featured include fan favorites such as Hello Kitty, Pochacco, Badtz-Maru, My Melody, Chococat, Monkichi, and Keroppi. This collection takes a trip down memory lane with the Rainbow T-Shirt in Galaxy Tie Dye, tinted in a cotton-candy twist featuring classic characters, Hello Kitty and Pochacco, light-heartedly frolicking on an anime-esque rainbow. Aoki’s legendary cake throwing is memorialized on the Aoki’s Cake Crew Neck in Black, with Sanrio characters shown to be mischievously plotting with Steve Aoki for his next celebrated cake toss. Adding to the Rainbow collection, fans can find the Rainbow Hoodie in black and lavender which displays the entire Sanrio ensemble playfully riding the waves of the rainbow. The Hello Kitty character is commemorated with its own line of short and long Sleeve tees in classic white and black colorways, highlighting the theatrically revisioned eyes.

Product prices range from $38 USD to $85 USD. The Sanrio x Dim Mak collection is now available on Dim Mak Collection and Sanrio.

In other news, Pokémon and thisisneverthat Reunite for FW20 collection.
