Audi's All-Electric RS e-Tron GT Prototype Offers 637 HP
Aiming to rival the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
Earlier this year, Audi said that its E-Tron vehicles would receive the full-bodied RS treatment, and now the German marque has officially unveiled the RS e-Tron GT prototype.
The Audi RS e-Tron GT is set to rival the likes of the Tesla Model S and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, thanks to its similar four-door size, performance statistics, and presumed price point. Although not all the information about the electric car is known just yet, Audi has said that the RS e-Tron GT will arrive next spring and that a non-prototype unveiling is to come later this year.
What we do know now is how the car will look and what it will deliver. It uses the same dual-motor drivetrain as the Taycan Turbo S and packs a 83.7 kWh battery, producing 589 HP in standard mode. However, an over-boost function will deliver 637 HP and 612 lb-ft of torque when needed.
It is set to become Audi’s fastest-accelerating RS model, hitting 62 MPH from a standstill in under 3.5 seconds — a fine achievement for an EV that weighs 2.3 tonnes. Because this is an RS model, Audi has also made it a real driver’s machine by adding controlled damping, air suspension, and all-wheel steering alongside large brakes and fast-charging capabilities so you can get back on the road when the batteries are down.
