KangaROOS has presented a high-heat take on its Ultimate silhouette that’s dubbed the “Triple Zero.” With an upper crafted partially from B-75 fire hoses and a sockliner made of fire jackets, the “Triple Zero” aims to call attention to the wildfires that have ravaged Australia, Brazil and the United States’ West Coast in 2020. It also serves as an apt follow-up to May’s Runaway ROOS 001 “Save the Polar Bear,” another shoe that notes the harm humanity is doing to the planet.

Made entirely in Germany, the “Triple Zero” starts with a cream-colored woven textile that’s pulled from the innards of the aforementioned fire hoses. Overlaying this do-anything base is a mixture of calf and pig suede, done up in soft tan and bright orange. Hi-vis reflective material is sprinkled throughout as well, providing a touch of firefighter-inspired style with placement on the quarter logo, tongue badge, eyestays and overlay trim. More of this shimmering substance is woven into the black laces, and heels feature a debossed firehouse-style badge. Fire jacket material bolsters the sockliner, while white EVA foam midsoles and black rubber outsoles complete the look.

The KangaROOS Ultimate “Triple Zero” is set to release via retailers like Hanon on October 9 and is priced at £260 GPB (approximately $337 USD).
