STEKA is an octagonal aluminum sauté pan designed by Swedish studio ADDI for Japanese cookware brand Mozambique. Conceived as a versatile cooking tool that bridges indoor kitchens and rugged outdoor environments, the pan was designed from a philosophy of structural logic and reduction rather than fleeting trends. Intended to transition seamlessly from a standard kitchen stove to an open campfire, the STEKA pan is engineered to be an adaptable, lifelong culinary instrument that ages and develops character alongside its owner.
Crafted from 5 mm solid aluminum, STEKA offers heat retention similar to cast iron but with a lighter weight. Its high, straight sides expand cooking possibilities, while the removable cast‑aluminum handle, secured with a single stainless‑steel screw, allows for easy replacement, oven use, or compact storage. The companion lid, inspired by the Japanese otoshibuta drop‑lid, features raised points underneath that circulate moisture during simmering and braising, creating a self‑basting effect. Each piece is hand‑finished, with production limited to ten units per day, underscoring its artisanal quality.
