Patrick Wilson, who has been the lead actor of the horror franchise Insidious, will be taking on the role of director for Insidious 5.

The upcoming movie will be Wilson’s directorial debut, and the actor will also be appearing in front of the camera. Rolling off 2018’s Insidious: The Last Key, the upcoming fifth installment will take place a decade after the events of the last movie, where the Lamberts’ son Dalton heads for college. “I’m honored and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious installment, which will provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices,” said Wilson to press. The movie will be produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse, alongside James Wan, while the script has been penned by Scott Teems. “Directing the movie is both professionally and personally a full-circle moment for me, and I am extremely grateful to be entrusted in continuing to tell this frightening and haunting story,” said Wilson.

The film has yet to receive a release date.
