Baki Is Getting a New Spin-off Manga Featuring Retsu Kaioh
Set to debut in Weekly Shōnen Champion’s next issue.
According to the latest issue of Monthly Shōnen Champion, Keisuke Itagaki‘s Baki manga franchise will receive a new spinoff manga called Baki Gaiden – Retsu Kaioh Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikkō Kamawan! (Baki Side Story – Retsu Kaioh Doesn’t Mind Even if It’s in Another World). The series is set to focus on Kenpo-style master Retsu Kaioh reincarnating into another world. Eiji Murai has been tasked with illustration while Itagaju and Sai Ihara are credited for the original story.
Baki Gaiden – Retsu Kaioh Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikkō Kamawan! serves as the latest installment of Itagaki’s long-running Baki martial arts action series. The franchise is known for utilizing different characters throughout the franchise for new titles, most of which use the Baki-Dou name.
The original Baki The Grappler ran for 42 volumes in Weekly Shōnen Champion from 1991 to 1999 while the sequel manga ran for 31 volumes from ‘99 to 2005. Hanma Baki followed for 37 volumes from ‘05 to 2012 then the first Baki-Dou, the fourth manga in the overall franchise, launched in Weekly Shōnen Champion ran for 22 volumes from March 2014 to April 2018.
Baki Gaiden – Retsu Kaioh Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikkō Kamawan! will launch in Weekly Shōnen Champion’s next issue on November 6.
