Highly technical, tremendously durable hiking shoes are enjoying an extended stretch of popularity, and one of the most-lauded is Salomon‘s XT-4 ADV, which has arrived in a duo of printed colorways. Taking on a vivid “High Risk Red” and an elegant — but humorously-monikered — “Vanilla Ice,” the performance silhouette adds plenty of street-ready flair to its backcountry-inspired style.
Part of Salomon’s S/LAB offerings, both of these XT-4 ADVs feature a mesh upper with an abstract surface print. “High Risk Red” keeps things monochromatic with black, white and grey hues, while “Vanilla Ice” adds sporty color into the mix by adding blue details on top of its grayscale base. Each is reinforced with fiberglass overlays and uses a thin rope toggle lacing system for sturdy lockdown.
Bold Salomon branding runs down the throat and is also present on both the heel counter and toebox. Midsoles are thin but extremely durable, combining a molded plastic ACS frame with a dense AC2 Muscle sole unit for exemplary support and cushioning. A toothed rubber outsole with an aggressive traction pattern finalizes both styles.
Elsewhere in the world of tech-y footwear, Our Legacy’s Cage Sneaker recently received a new makeup that boasts glow-in-the-dark highlights.
