Issey Miyake Unveils Technical Canvas NY Sneakers
Featuring a geometric rubber midsole.

Off the heels of its vibrant FW20 show at Paris Fashion Week, Issey Miyake has unveiled a sleek new low-cut footwear piece that comes with all the minimally technical nuances you would expect from the label. Featured is the Canvas NY Sneakers, coming in three bold colorways of “Blue,” “White” and “Black.”
This particular silhouette features an articulated dip at the rearmost part of the collars, freeing up extra room for the ankles. The heel comes with a tiny heel counter in a delicate suede material that also appears at the backstay and lower mudguards — textural contrast between the top part of the upper and the lower regions. At the forefoot are a set of thin rope laces that appear to be rather short in length, refreshingly leaving a good portion of the tongue exposed — an area otherwise commonly overwhelmed by laces. In addition, a row of small ripstop eyelets are placed just above the mudguards so wearers can adjust the fit to their liking. As a finishing note, all of these features are placed over a sculptural rubber midsole, detailed with sporadic geometric shapes and ridges signature of the label’s motifs.
The Issey Miyake Canvas NY Sneakers are currently available at SSENSE’s website for $675 USD.
