PHINGERIN SS20 Continues With Punk-Tinged Streetwear Staples
Vibrant prints and outlandish statement pieces remain at the forefront.
Returning from its recent Fall/Winter 2019 collection lookbook, youthful Japanese imprint PHINGERIN continues to push its punk-tinged design with its latest Spring/Summer 2020 range. Relishing in support from major stockists like UNITED ARROWS and admirers like Verdy, the latest range sees relaxed layers and vibrant color palettes taking hold.
Expanding on staple pieces such as the imprint’s bondage pants and various unstructured shirts, PHINGERIN has provided a plethora of mid-layer and outerwear options from half-zip hooded sweatshirts and loose-fitting sweaters to lightweight anoraks and trucker jackets. SS20 sees the brand continuing with vibrant color play, whereby various pieces have been doused with immaculate color-blocking.
The imprint hasn’t let up on statement pieces this season, either. Various prints show up throughout, such as an M.C. Escher-inspired, sashiko-style robe that features an allover print in black and white, as well as a bowling shirt and crewneck that showcase a blue, orange, and white print. This plays well into the various trousers as well, which feature an array of Summer-ready prints. As is evidenced by the lookbook, the most head-turning of the range is undoubtedly the beekeeper-style mesh shirt and mask in red.
Material-wise, much of the collection spotlights lightweight cotton and nylon materials, all of which feature slightly slouchy fits to cope with the immense Summer heat usually on display within Japan. As can be expected from PHINGERIN, much of the collection continues with the brand’s personalized take on military and punk-inspired Americana, effectually turning the pieces into well-tuned streetwear staples.
