'Watchmen' Featurette Unveils New Footage & Plot Details
Sheddinglight on the masked vigilantes.
After multiple cryptic teasers, HBO has now shared a featurette for its highly-anticipated Watchmen adaptation series which shines more light on the masked vigilantes.
Coming in at just over two-minutes, the video not only includes new scenes, but reveals a few details about the show’s storyline. The featurette is led by creator Damon Lindelof and includes commentary from star Regina King and director/producer Nicole Kassell. Elsewhere the creative team explores the themes of Watchmen while providing plenty of highlights from the upcoming show. The video then goes on to explain why just about every character is wearing some sort of mask. “Watchmen examine how we, as a society, feel about heroes, most notably people who wear masks and fight crime,” Lindelof explains in the video. “Our Watchmen honors the graphic novel without making it necessary to have read it in order to understand this new story.” Get your best look at the show thus far in the video posted above.
The series is based off the classic graphic novel of the same name where masked vigilantes run wild in an alternate America during the Cold War. Watchmen stars Regina King as Angela Abraham, Don Johnson as Chief Judd Crawford, Tim Blake Nelson as Looking Glass, Lous Gossett Jr. as Old Man, Adelaide Clemens as Pirate Jenny, Andrew Howard as Red Scare, Jean Smart as Agent Blake and Jeremy Irons as Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias.
Watchmen arrives on HBO October 20 at 9 p.m. EST.
