Watch Sam Levinson & Labrinth Discuss How They Composed 'Euphoria'’s Soundtrack
In HBO’s latest behind-the-scenes clip.
Aside from debuting numerous breakout acting roles, Euphoria‘s exceptional use of interjecting music at the perfect moments was one of the biggest highlights of the show.
“I always write to music, and as I was writing Euphoria I kept hearing Danny Elfman meets YEEZUS meets gospel,” show creator Sam Levinson shares in HBO’s latest behind-the-scenes video.
Instead of placing music at the background like most series do, Euphoria gave it a starring role, which effectively helped to amplify the moods of it characters and to successfully touch viewers watching from home. To make sure he got exactly what he wanted in terms of the show’s soundtrack, which is a wonderful mix of classic records to new tracks from up-and-coming artists, Levinson tapped British singer-songwriter Labrinth to compose the project along with Jen Malone as music supervisor.
Watch the video above to learn more about how music became such an important role in HBO‘s hit series Euphoria. The series has already been renewed for a second season.
