A 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG 6.0 "Wide Body" Dominates RM Sotheby's Next Auction
The one-of-fifty classic is finished in a fitting “Sinister Blauschwarz Metallic” paint.
A 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG 6.0 “Wide Body” is heading to the auction block at RM Sotheby’s London’s Youngtimer Collection later this year.
Previously, RM Sotheby’s has sold a four-door SEL-iteration of the wide-bodied Merc’, which was offered up in a very rare take on the already limited-production classic. This time around, the auction house presents the SEC — a coupe version of the 560 AMG, finished in a fittingly dark paint dubbed “Sinister Blauschwarz Metallic.”
The car is the result of AMG taking a donor model and upgrading it to deliver 6-liters from its engine, developed via a bespoke four-valve, dual-overhead-camshaft, three-piece and sand-cast cylinder head. As a result, the Mercedes-Benz AMG partnership created a car that offered close to 400 BHP and twice the original amount of torque.
AMG also added new doors, bumpers and arches, as well as wide two-piece wheels and an improved interior alongside a heavy dose of tonal branding for a squat and menacing look — which has since become synonymous with super-tuned AMGs.
